Examines cultural diversity of these regions through their rich artistic production, from fine arts such as painting, sculpture, and drawing to popular forms such as prints and posters, ceramics, textiles, design, and even sports. Topics include: art and politics; race, gender, and representation; colonialism, nationalism, and globalization; modernity and modernism; Latino/a art in the United States. Lectures and readings in English. Discussion sections available in English and Spanish. One course.
