A survey of French art and architecture in the early modern period, including castles, churches, prints & drawings, paintings, sculpture, and the decorative art objects considered in their social, economic, and political context; focus on 1422-1643; three thematic sections, organized chronologically: art and architecture relating to ceremonies and festivals, domestic and urban life, and worship to draw out relevant themes in the creation and use of works of art; programmed visits to Duke s Rubenstein Rare Books Room and Nasher Museum of Art to view some of these objects.
