Overview

Kelly C. Tang is a Ph.D. student working under the supervision of Professor Stanley Abe. Her dissertation, tentatively titled “Gibbons, Garments, and Gardens: Zhang Daqian’s Conceptual Art of Life” focuses on Chinese painter Zhang Daqian (1899-1983) as he moved through Brazil, California, and Taiwan. 

Prior to her work at Duke University, Kelly received a BA in Art History and Asian American Studies magna cum laude from the University of California Los Angeles and an MPhil with Distinction in Modern Chinese Studies from the University of Oxford.
