Michael Tauschinger-Dempsey

Graduate Assistant

Tauschinger-Dempsey’s work expands a traditional studio art practice that relies primarily on material and conceptual conversations indigenous to the art world and the art markets with rigorous scholarly research typically reserved only for academia. By thickening (Geertz, 1973) the definition of art, interdisciplinary study, and formal research, this approach to intellectual dialoguing and creative expression suggests the need to create more socially relevant and factually grounded works. His intrinsically dialectical approach to intellectual study and art practice guarantees a more explicitly psychological, unlabored but deliberately thought-provoking and visceral connection with the audience.
