Research Description
Aurelia is a PhD candidate currently writing her dissertation entitled, "Throwing Stones at Friars: The Church of San Francesco in Piacenza." The dissertation explores the political environment of Piacenza and the Italian peninsula more generally, and how individual agendas created the conditions for the construction of the Franciscan church. Her research looks critically at the economic and social impact of the mendicant project on local institutions and examines how the construction of the Franciscans' Gothic church permanently changed the urban shape of the city.
