How has being an Art, Art History & Visual Studies graduate from Duke helped shape your professional success?
My AAHVS / Certificate in Architecture degree prepared me for graduate studies in architecture. Since then, I have obtained my architecture license and now work on designing education buildings, ranging from historic amphitheater renovations at a major private university, to new buildings on public school campuses.
What advice would you give students in Art, Art History & Visual Studies?
Study what fascinates and motivates you, even if you're not sure where it will take you. I loved studying architectural history, not knowing yet what I could do in the field or how I could turn that love into a career. After exploring my options, I discovered that I could pursue a career as an architect that would allow me to keep learning about buildings every day.
