How has being an AAHVS graduate from Duke helped shape your professional success?
I developed excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, as well as quick ability to recall facts and patterns. This translated well to the skills needed for law school and eventually for life as a litigator and corporate lawyer.
What advice would you give students in AAHVS?
Think about the practical skills you can develop, by just about the subject matter. I adored my Art History classes and found the content to be so interesting. Occasionally, I get to use the content at dinner parties and on trips. But at the end of the day, it is the practical skills (writing, analysis, seeing patterns, digesting huge amounts of information in an efficient manner) that have continued to serve me after graduation.
