The Oxford Friars project virtually reconstructs the medieval Franciscan and Dominican foundations in Oxford in the 13th to 16th centuries. The project places these lost buildings in the context of English antifraternal literature, tracing the opposition to the friars’ building projects from their beginnings in the 1220s to the final dissolution of English religious houses under Henry VIII in the 1530s. James Knowles worked with Professor Caroline Bruzelius at the Wired! Lab in the Department of Art, Art History & Visual Studies.
