Art in Spain During the Golden Age. Survey of the visual arts in Spain from 1550-1770, with an emphasis on artistic centers of Toledo, Madrid, and Seville. Concentration on the effects of royal patronage, the role of the Church, and the artist's status in society. Field trips to Ackland Art Museum, UNC, Chapel Hill, and the NC Museum of Art, Raleigh. One course.
