Analog Film Animation

CINE 760S

In Analog Film Animation, students work directly with film materials and tools to create moving images frame by frame. The course covers analog techniques such as stop-motion and cel animation using 16mm cameras, lights and simple set ups. Students engage with historically influential animated films to deepen their knowledge of style and technique. While production will be conducted using analog methods, projects will be finished digitally. Weekly, hands-on exercises will build students' technical skill and creative confidence and culminate in a final animated film project.
