Relief Print/chinese Culture

The course will focus on relief processes and printing methods along with learning about the history of the woodblock print in Chinese and Western cultures. Through projects exploring the different relief methods, readings, field trips, and interactions with visiting artists, student will learn to create relief prints and understand their influence on Chinese history. Projects are designed to teach cutting and printing techniques through use of this medium, and to stress visual and conceptual ideas in their work. This course includes field trips to other local venues. Taught at Duke Kunshan University. Instructor: Shatzman
