Writing the Short Film

Writing the Short Film is an introduction to scriptwriting with an emphasis on narrative short films. Students explore in-depth, the unique storytelling possibilities of the short form while developing concepts into completed film scripts. The course guides students through key stages of pre-production, including storyboarding and creating look books. Emphasis is placed on structure, character, dialogue, and storytelling. Through the analysis of films and by combining creative exercises with practical tools, the course teaches students to craft engaging, concise narratives, develop their individual voice, and translate ideas into fully realized film scripts. No prior experience is required.
