The Department of Art, Art History & Visual Studies’ 40-page Year in Review is a compilation of the 18 e-newsletters (NewsByte) sent out during the 2021-22 academic year detailing the Department’s activities and achievements. NewsByte was mined, collated, and re-edited to form a comprehensive review of the past year in the life of the Department. It was also re-designed as its own publication and is made available now as a downloadable PDF from the Department’s website.
In addition to standard Departmental news of faculty, staff, student, and alumni activities, we’ve highlighted some unique events: Richard J. Powell’s important 2022 A.W. Mellon Lectures in the Fine Arts at the National Gallery of Art; a special 112-page report, Celebrating 10+ Years of Wired!; eight new faculty books; ten faculty exhibitions, including Stephen Hayes’ highly publicized sculpture installation, Boundless, and Beverly McIver’s first career retrospective, Beverly McIver: Full Circle; and the 2022 Commencement listing celebrating our undergraduate and graduate student degrees and awards. Within individual faculty sections we record equally important faculty promotions, grants, publications, distinguished professorships, and retirements.
