2026 Senior Capstone Exhibition

2026 Capstone

The 2026 Senior Capstone Exhibition brought together graduating students from Duke's Visual Arts, Cinematic Arts and Documentary Studies programs for an evening celebrating their culminating creative work at the Rubenstein Arts Center on April 20.

The exhibition opened with a reception and gallery showcase featuring senior thesis projects by Visual Arts students. Installed throughout the upstairs gallery and painting studio, the exhibition highlighted a diverse range of artistic approaches and served as the culmination of the students' undergraduate studio practice.

The evening continued in the film theater with screenings of original works by Cinematic Arts and Documentary Studies students, followed by staged readings of selected projects. Together, the presentations showcased the breadth of creative research and storytelling developed across the three academic programs.

Featured visual artists included Lexie Belgrad, Maya Crawford, Emily Dieu, Jackson Garvey, Brooke Hira, Skylar Knight, Courtney Lucius, Jordan Moyd and Felix Zhu. Screening presentations were given by Richard Schulz and Evelyn Shue, while Ian McPherson, Riley Reece and Yurina Shirai presented staged readings of their work.

Sponsored by the Department of Art, Art History & Visual Studies and co-sponsored by the Center for Documentary Studies and Cinematic Arts, the annual Senior Capstone Exhibition provided students with an opportunity to publicly present the work they developed during their final year of study while celebrating the conclusion of their undergraduate careers.
