A Practical Guide To Skateboarding on Crutches (40 min talk 10 min Q&A)
Bill Shannon discusses engaging contradictions and finding balance while in the process of developing and formalizing movement technique. Evolution and Ideation, Invention and Modification, Lexicon and Canon.

Wearables, Wearable Video Art and Live Performance of Sculptural Form (30 min talk 10 min Q&A)
Bill Shannon shares his 3 decades of experimentation with wearable sculpture and video art that led to his eventual fusion of recent works of wearable video sculpture and interactive video sculpture for live performance contexts. The exploration of the video works ultimately serves as a platform for the artists to argue the necessity of establishing conceptual framing and design limitations within the process of invention.

Bill Shannon is an interdisciplinary artist exploring body-centric work through dance, video installation, and sculpture. A Guggenheim Fellow and United States Artist Award recipient, Shannon developed a singular movement vocabulary using crutches, fusing childhood play with hip-hop and skateboarding cultures. His work has been presented at PS122, The Kitchen, and internationally.
